Robotic Industrial Process Automation - Empowering SCADA Engineers
Modernization of control room operations is critical to enhancing safety, improving operator wellbeing, and prolonging asset integrity. With energy efficiency and security taking center stage in the current global environment, bringing operational autonomy to control rooms is crucial. Control Room operators face complex and varied operations that require continuous context switching and an overwhelming number of user commands, which create inefficiencies, higher occurrences of fatigue and lost throughput across the entire value chain, resulting in lost revenues.
To address these challenges, companies have ramped up their investments in modernizing their infrastructure, software, and processes. Using emerging technologies like Robotic Industrial Process Automation (RIPA), control room operators are able to automate procedures, checklists, and rules of thumb, resulting in increased efficiency of operations. By integrating RIPA into a control room operation, flowrates for energy assets are continuously maximized, leading to a potential increase in throughput of up to 4%. Moreover, RIPA also reduces the number of user commands that need to be entered by a control room operator by up to 92%.
This talk will explore how the deployment of software, such as RIPA, atop existing SCADA systems, is key to facilitating an increase in energy efficiency and security, enabling the future control room. As part of the talk, we will also discuss the benefits of using RIPA, including enhanced safety through alarm reduction and 65% reductions in alarm occurrences, 60% reductions in alarm durations, and 30% reductions in alarm magnitudes. This talk will provide insights into how RIPA can transform control room operations and optimize the energy infrastructure.
This abstract is timely because it addresses the pressing need for digital transformation in the energy sector. With energy efficiency and security taking center stage in the current global environment, companies are investing heavily in modernizing their infrastructure, software, and processes. The deployment of emerging technologies like Robotic Industrial Process Automation (RIPA) is key to facilitating an increase in energy efficiency and security.
