Mattia grew up in a small town near Milan, Italy. His passion for board and card games, combined with a natural inclination for mathematics, led me to pursue a degree in mathematics. He earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees with a focus on applied mathematics—exploring the finite element method in my bachelor’s thesis and econometrics in my master’s thesis. During his studies, he also had the opportunity to spend time abroad in Berlin, Germany.

Mattia began his career in the finance sector, working for an investment fund in Milan. He initially started as a developer—what would now be considered a Data Engineer—before transitioning into a quantitative portfolio management role. During this time, Mattia also pursued a PhD in statistics. However, driven by curiosity, he decided to shift industries and spent a year in consulting as a data scientist before joining Pirelli in the same role.

At Pirelli, he worked on projects across various domains, from marketing to industrial data science, ultimately developing a strong passion for the latter. Today, Mattia leads the industrial data science area, overseeing projects and digital products implemented across multiple factories and continents.
