From Fragmented to Integrated: The OT Journey to WIMS

This presentation will focus on a 2025 project that centers on implementing the Hach WIMS data management and reporting platform as a unified solution for operational, compliance, and analytical needs across the utility. This initiative brought three previously separate data environments—Compliance reporting, Operator Rounds, and SCADA historical data—together under one integrated WIMS framework. By leveraging on‑premises servers in combination with a cloud‑based database, the system enables seamless data intake from field staff through the RIO mobile application while consolidating laboratory and regulatory datasets into a single, consistent source of truth.

This integration not only streamlined data workflows but also enhances accuracy, transparency, and accessibility for all stakeholders. As part of the rollout, the team conducted detailed analysis, demonstrations, and collaborative sessions with operations, compliance, IT, and leadership groups to build alignment, address concerns, and secure organizational buy‑in. The result is a modernized, centralized data ecosystem that supports more efficient reporting, improved decision‑making, and a stronger foundation for future digital transformation efforts.
