Panasonic Energy AI and Smart Factory Preparation: From a Data Expert and Supervisor’s View

In the dynamic landscape of modern manufacturing, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force, revolutionizing traditional production methods and ushering in a new era of efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.


This presentation delves into the application of AI within the Panasonic Energy Smart Factory, showcasing how advanced technologies are reshaping operations to drive excellence and meet evolving market demands. Panasonic Energy is currently building a smart factory in De Soto, Kansas. Aoi will share her expertise in AI and Smart Manufacturing lead projects and share how she has prepared for the construction of an enormous lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility.


One project includes an application she developed to allow all team members the ability to have a consistent understanding of the terminology and technology used in production.


The application contributions include:


1. Productivity is greatly improved, and the chance of errors are reduced.

2. Reduce the cost and time of training new employees and those who change jobs, turning training into self-study.

3. Allow multiple languages to be used within the application

4. Save the cost of hiring interpreters and translators

5. As a new database, other applications involving

manufacturing process terminology can be connected to other platforms in the company.


This application has enabled Aoi and her team to engage in discussions and collaborate on projects with numerous professionals, including engineers, translators, HR personnel, UI/UX designers, general managers, operations leaders, and members based in the Japan headquarters.


In today’s global collaboration landscape, utilizing artificial intelligence tools for seamless communication significantly enhances various facets of project development. The application harnesses AI, fostering trust and mutual understanding between manufacturing and project teams. It streamlines workflows, reducing costs associated with redundant processes, and fosters an environment conducive to innovation and creativity.
